Elections at Rophine Field International School are always an exciting time, full of energy, anticipation and hope for student leadership. This year was no different and for Karen, it was a moment she will never forget.
As a newcomer in her first year at Rophine, she was still adjusting to a new environment, new friends and new routines, therefore running for a leadership position seemed like a leap into the unknown.
When the election results were announced, Karen was overwhelmed with emotion. With 200 votes, she was elected as the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, securing a clear victory over her closest competitor, who garnered 94 votes. The moment her name was called, Karen broke down in tears – tears of gratitude and joy.

Her win was not just about numbers; it was a reflection of trust, recognition and belief from fellow learners. It showed that her peers saw in her the qualities of a leader who could represent them and champion environmental awareness within the school.
Karen’s journey reminds us that courage and authenticity often speak louder than anything else. Even in a new setting, by simply being herself and connecting with others, she gained the support of her community.
Now, as Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Karen is ready to serve with dedication. She looks forward to leading initiatives that promote sustainability, conservation and a greener school community.
