About
Championing Climate Action, One Tree at a Time
My name is Karen Kimani and I am the proud Founder and CEO of Karen Forte Environmental Conservation Foundation, a registered non-profit organization in Kenya dedicated to helping communities achieve their climate goals.
I’m also a pupil at Rophine International School in Utawala, Nairobi. I serve as the Cabinet Secretary for Environment in our student council – elected in 2023 and re-elected in 2024.
In 2023, I founded our school’s Environmental Club, which now has over 400 active members. Together, we’ve planted and nurtured over 1,172 trees.
My Vision
Empowering children, greening communitiesI believe that children should have a say in the future of our planet. Through tree planting, education and innovation, I aim to make environmental conservation a part of every child’s life, especially in arid and semi-arid regions where climate change hits hardest.

Current Programs
Making environmental action real and local
Inter-County Tree Growing & Mentorship Program
Planted thousands of trees across Nairobi, Murang’a and Bomet counties. Nurturing young ambassadors in every county, with a goal of reaching all 47 counties in Kenya.
The Virtual Forest Program
Launched in July 2024 — a digital tree-planting movement where followers grow trees in their own communities and track their progress online. Inspired by the Power of One philosophy of Wangari Maathai.
Model Forest in Kinale, Kiambu
I initiated my own forest on a 50-acre land allocated by Kenya Forest Service. So far, we’ve planted 5,000 trees. Every club member plants trees on their birthday, making conservation fun and meaningful.
