On Friday, 10 April 2026, the Karen Forte Environmental Conservation Foundation, in partnership with five major corporate organizations, officially launched its long-awaited 50-acre conservation forest at Kinale in Kiambu County. The initiative marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s private-sector-driven environmental restoration efforts.
The launch brought together strategic partners including Sasini PLC, Nation Media Group Ltd, CKL Africa, Absa Bank Kenya, and the Kenya Forest Service, all of whom signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the development and sustainability of the forest project.

The event was marked by the planting of 2,500 trees on the launch day alone, symbolizing the beginning of a larger restoration vision. In total, the site is set to host and nurture 22,222 trees once fully established, forming a thriving indigenous forest ecosystem aimed at restoring degraded land and improving biodiversity in the region.
During the launch, the Karen Forte Environmental Conservation Foundation also officially unveiled its flagship environmental campaign, “One Child. One Mission. One Million Trees Initiative.” This ambitious program seeks to engage children and young people as key drivers of environmental conservation by empowering them to take responsibility for tree planting and long-term ecological stewardship.

Speaking during the event, stakeholders emphasized that the partnership represents a shared commitment between the private sector and environmental institutions to address climate change, restore forest cover, and promote sustainable land use. The participating corporates are expected to benefit through the fulfillment of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals while simultaneously contributing to measurable environmental impact.
Beyond the immediate environmental benefits, the 50-acre forest is projected to enhance soil conservation, improve water catchment protection, increase biodiversity, and contribute to carbon sequestration efforts in Kiambu County and beyond.

The Karen Forte Environmental Conservation Foundation expressed its intention to expand the initiative by inviting additional corporate partners both locally and internationally. The goal is to scale the “One Million Trees” vision into a wider movement that integrates schools, communities, and organizations in a unified effort to restore Kenya’s forest cover.
With the official launch of the Kinale conservation forest, the foundation has positioned itself at the forefront of grassroots-led environmental transformation—bridging corporate collaboration, community engagement, and long-term ecological sustainability.
