In yet another inspiring display of youth leadership in climate action, Karen Kimani, made headlines once again as the only child speaker at the prestigious Climate Reality Project Workshop held in Westlands, Nairobi.
The event, hosted by The Climate Reality Project, featured global climate leader and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore as the chief guest and keynote speaker. The workshop brought together environmentalists, policymakers, educators and young climate advocates to explore solutions to the climate crisis, with a special focus on empowering African voices.
Karen took the stage confidently, sharing her journey as a young changemaker who has already planted tens of thousands of trees across Kenya, mobilized school children through inter-school eco programs and led national campaigns on climate justice.
“Children may not be the cause of this crisis, but we are the ones who will live with its impact the longest,” Karen said. “We must be included, not just as beneficiaries but as active participants in climate action.”
Her powerful message captured the attention of the audience and earned praise from Mr. Gore himself, who commended her for her courage and vision.
“Karen is a shining example of how the next generation is leading the way,” Al Gore remarked. “Her voice is a reminder of the urgency and moral clarity that young people bring to this movement.”
Karen’s participation at the workshop marks yet another milestone in her growing international profile. With previous appearances at COP27, COP28 and engagements with global leaders such as King Charles III and Prince William’s Earthshot winners, her influence continues to grow as a symbol of youth-led environmental action.
